Why should I become a consignor?

What items can I sell?

Carousel Closet accepts new and gently used newborn-size 12 clothing, shoes, baby gear, toys (all must have working batteries if required), bedding and sports equipment. Please make sure all items are cleaned well, and ironed if needed – keep in mind, clean items attract more buyers! Please check your items for recalls, you can find the recall list at the bottom of our homepage.

Which items are not accepted?

Carousel Closet does not accept any recalled items, cribs, car seats, furniture, (except toddler bed frames), board games, jigsaw puzzles, sippy cups and stuffed animals, unless they are battery operated. We also will not accept any clothing with stains, missing parts, holes or broken zippers.

Who decides on the price of the items I want to sell?

The sellers decide on their own price. We suggest about 60-75% off retail price. Think how much YOU would pay for that item. Items must be priced at least $1. You are welcome to pin together few items with the use of safety pins (ex. 2 onesies) for a better sale.

How do I prepare my items?

Please make sure all items you intend to sell are clean. Clothes need to be washed and ironed if needed, placed on plastic hangers (the hanger should make the question mark sign (?) when you look at the front of the garment) You can pin pants to plastic hangers with the use of safety pins. With smaller items, we encourage you group them together with safety pins as well. Complete outfits attract more buyers! You are welcome to use Ziploc bags for smallest items for ex. socks, tights etc. Once you print your tags from your computer, (Using our online system) you attach them to your clothing using a safety pin. Some consignors decide to use a tag gun, which is fine – they can be purchased at Amazon.

How do I deliver my items to you?

Consignors deliver their prepared items the day before the event. Please check our homepage for exact time and place.

How do I get paid?

Consignors’ checks will be mailed out the following week after our event.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash and following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. We DO NOT accept checks.

What happens to the items that don’t sell?

Sellers have the option to take their items back or donate them. Our donated items will go to The Kids Pantry, located in Mount Prospect, IL.
